Women can Relax and Rejuvenate in the Outdoors!

There is no better way to relax and rejuvenate than spending some time outdoors.  The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) program is offering a Beyond BOW workshop June 7-9, at the beautiful Central Wisconsin Environmental Station, located near Amherst (central), Wisconsin.  Participants can choose one of four tracks: Canoeing and Kayaking, Trout Fishing, Backpacking and Camping, or a Hunter Education Certification Class.

“Anyone interested in this workshop should call right away.  The classes have a registration limit, and they fill quickly,” says Kelly Wisinski, Coordinator of the WI BOW program.  “I am surprised at the number of phone calls I am getting from men this year.  They are paying for the $200 registration fee, and giving registration as a gift to their mothers and wives as a Mother’s Day present.”

This is the perfect opportunity for women to attend a Hunter Education class, and get certification from the DNR.  Most general classes are filled with adolescent boys and girls, and many BOW participants feel more comfortable taking the class with adult women.  Many women register for the Canoeing and Kayaking, Trout Fishing and Backpacking/Camping class because it is always something they have wanted to try, but have never really had the opportunity.  It is not necessary to have any experience to attend a BOW workshop, classes are all offered at a beginner level in a comfortable, non-threatening learning environment.

Studies have shown that women “learn by doing”, so these classes are outdoors and hands-on.  Participants of the Canoeing/Kayaking class will get a lot of water time on breathtaking Sunset Lake.  The Backpacking/Camping participants will have the option of sleeping outdoors on Saturday night, telling stories by the campfire and cooking over the open flame.  The workshop registration fee of $200 includes all food, lodging, equipment and instruction.
