Bayfield County Valhalla Area Trail System 715/373-2667 54 miles of trails comprise the Valhalla Area Trail System in the Chequamegon National Forest connecting the Valhalla Winter Sports Area with the Tri County Corridor and Bayfield County's Battle Axe Trail. The hills, valleys and challenging terrain of the trail, were created by the action of glaciers, many thousands of years ago. This glacial topography is what makes this area ideal for ATV riding. You will be challenged with steep hills and valleys, as the trail winds past small lakes and beaver ponds, as well as, spectacular vistas and abundant wild life. The Chippewa County ATV Trail is normally open to ATV riding from May 1st to November 15th of each year, except in case of emergency, when the County may close and gate the trail. Be cautious, as you never know what's around the next corner, or over the next hill, on this two-way trail! Washburn County ATV Trails Wild River Trail The Wild River Trail is a 96-mile recreation corridor traveling along an abandoned railroad grade. This is a multiple use trail open to all users, including motorized uses under 700 pounds. The trail is currently open between Rice Lake and Solon Springs. 40 miles of the Wild River Trail crosses Washburn County. Parking is available in Sarona, downtown Spooner, Trego, and Minong. Wild River Trail Map Minong ATV Trail The 20 mile Minong ATV trail connects the community of Minong with Sawyer County near Nelson Lake. This trail provides an ATV link between the Wild River Trail north of Minong and communities in Sawyer County. The trail runs primarily on County Forest Roads and township roads, with a 1.5-mile wooded trail connection. The trail follows the Poppleshoot Fire Lane, Colton Rd, and the Wozny Road. This trail is open year round, but portions on the Washburn County Forest are closed to ATV travel from April 1 to May 31. Minong ATV Trail Map Spider Lake ATV Trail The 8-mile Spider Lake ATV trail is a loop trail starting and ending at the Spider Lake Resort near Birchwood. The trail circles Spider Lake and also has a connection west to Berry Rd and intersects Elbow Lake Rd. The trail runs primarily through the Washburn County Forest. Trailhead is located about 15 miles west of Medford on State Hwy. 64 (north side of the road). Chippewa Campground is adjacent to the northern end of the trail. Contact Medford Ranger District. Tri-County Corridor Tri-County Recreational Corridor Trail 800/472-6338 A 62-mile, improved, abandoned railroad grade that connects Ashland to Superior. Trail surface is relatively flat, but passes through scenic terrain in Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas County. Contact Bayfield County Tourism. Southeast Wisconsin Kenosha County Bong State Recreation Area 262/878-5600 7.1 miles of looped trail on gently rolling terrain in a special use area. A state park permit is required for car parking in the recreational area. Southwest Wisconsin Adams County Dyracuse Mound Motorcycle Recreation Area 715/325-8013 Located 15 miles south of Wisconsin Rapids, (Archer Drive east of State Hwy. 13). Contains two ATV courses, two motorcycle courses, trails, shelter, toilets and parking. Admission fee is charged. No camping in the park. Schedule varies throughout spring, summer and fall. Jackson County 95 miles of trail in the Black River State Forest and Jackson County Forest lands signed for spring, summer and fall off-road motorcycle and ATV use. Lafayette County Cheese Country Trail 608/328-9430 47 miles of improved, abandoned railroad grade extending from Mineral Point (Iowa County) to Darlington (Lafayette County) to Monroe (Green County). Trail surface is relatively flat, passing through scenic southwestern Wisconsin. Contact Tri-County Trail Commission. Pecatonica State Trail 608/776-4048 10-mile, shared-use trail. This trail meets the Cheese Country Trail at Calamine, running west to Belmont. This spring/summer/fall trail opens April 1 and closes November 15.
