Touching Base for 07-08

Fellow bird hunters
,

First of all I would like to say once again thank you to all of you who came out hunting last season and I welcome all of you who are considering coming out this year.  Like other years we have been taking on some projects to try to make Rock Ridge Hunt Club that much more desirable for both training and pleasure hunting.  We have continued to plant trees to add to the aesthetics around the hunting fields.  We planted approximately 1600 trees to make each field feel as private and secluded as possible.  Mother nature seems to be testing our patience when it comes to the lack of rain when trying to get things to grow.  Our cover is more than acceptable for fall or early winter hunting but could be a little weak for late winter hunting.  You may want to book hunts earlier before the heavy snows come.  This is very frustrating for us when we are trying to create cover to enhance your hunting experience so we truly appreciate your patience through these types of situations.  Our belief is that the hunters that come to visit us appreciate a clean and organized setting.  If you were making the trip strictly for birds then there are probably facilities closer to home and possibility at cheaper prices.  This is why we will continue to try to improve the club every year to make your overall experience that much more enjoyable.

As some of you may know, myself and a few other avid bird-doggers created an organization called the Competitive Canine Association, LLC.  The CCA consists of Upland Hunting and Retrieving competitions that evaluate a dog's abilities compared to other dogs.  These competitions consist of putting your dog through a pre-determined course, with a very simple scoring system, that will evaluate the dog's ability.  If you are interested in competing feel free to call me with questions or go to
www.competitivecanine.com .  We will be hosting CCA events this fall and next summer.

The bird prices are the same as last year.  Fuel prices and feed costs have continued to rise over the last year but my goal has always been to offer a service that is affordable so I refused to raise prices this year.  All we can hope is that costs either level off or drop in the next year so we are not forced to raise our prices next year.  Please check out the pricing page located on the home page.

Thanks again for taking the time to see what's happening at Rock Ridge Hunt Club.  If you have any questions about hunting or would like to come out and see what we've done since last fall feel free to give us a call at 715-568-3420.

Thank you and we hope to see you this year,
Wade, Michelle, and Dani
